My practice varies between media, with works predominantly being oil paintings and large-scale, sculptural installations.
My sculptural work derives from my interest in physical material and technique. I enjoy working with wood, plaster and clay and take influence from original craftsmanship. I manipulate everyday objects (particularly household furniture) using artist material, in order to question existence, placement and exposure. Through adding and/or removing material from an everyday object you allow the viewer to demand its identity. Does a chair, when burdened with plaster still remain a chair, or now is it seen as a sculpture? And, when formally or informally presented within an exhibited space, how does this sculpture fit on the scale of low to high-end art?
I enjoy making and/or re-using domestic objects in order to create a familiar relationship between the viewer and work. The sculptures, seemingly simple, upon closer inspection, become intertwined with complicity and vulnerability. An object so well known, no longer used for its original function, becomes lost and in its new existence acts simultaneously as a place of memory, an object and a sculpture.

My paintings explore everyday imagery and objects refrained to the restrictions of a canvas. Inspired by Disney Animation, with repeated imagery, mark-making and contrasting textures I explore how an audience react to such familiar imagery within a gallery space, with works ‘bulging’ within their canvas frame. I take influence from Comic book culture, Zines and Graffiti Artists, as well as the Old Masters.
